About BaseLodge

Skiing is better when someone brings you in.

BaseLodge was created to make skiing and snowboarding feel more connected, more social, and easier to share.

The first time I went skiing, I hated it.

I was cold. My boots hurt. I did not have the right gear. I had no idea what I was doing, and honestly, I could not understand why people loved it so much.

Years later, a friend convinced me to try again. But this time was different.

Before we even got to the mountain, he prepared me for what the experience would actually feel like. He told me the rental boots would probably hurt. He explained that my winter clothes were not really ski clothes. He answered the questions I did not even know I should ask.

Most importantly, he stayed patient with me through those first few days on the mountain.

Somewhere in that process, skiing changed for me.

It stopped being just a sport. It became road trips, mountain towns, long days outside, crowded après spots, early morning coffee before the lifts opened, and the feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself.

Over time, more of my friends became curious about skiing too. Not because of advertisements or perfectly edited videos online. They got interested because they saw how much fun we were having together.

Eventually, I found myself doing for other people what my friend had done for me. Helping them rent the right gear. Encouraging them to take a lesson on day one. Recording videos after their first successful run so they could relive the excitement later that night.

Years later, some of those same friends are now teaching their own kids how to ski and snowboard.

Mountain culture grows through people introducing other people.

Living in Denver and skiing often, I started noticing something else.

There would be days where I spent the entire day on the mountain, rode the bus home exhausted, opened my phone, and realized another group of friends had been skiing nearby the whole time.

We already knew each other. We already spent time together. But somehow, we missed the chance to share the day.

Maybe we could have skied together. Shared a ride. Split a house for the weekend. Grabbed dinner after the lifts closed. Turned a solo day into something shared.

That missed connection stayed with me.

People already had ski communities. They just did not always know where their people were.

BaseLodge was created to make those moments easier to find.

The mountain feels better together.
A good ski day is not only about the runs. It is about the people, the plans, the stories, and everything that happens around the mountain.
Coordination should feel simple.
Ski plans should not disappear across group chats, scattered texts, and last-minute messages.
More people should feel invited in.
Skiing and snowboarding can feel intimidating at first. The right people around you can change everything.
BaseLodge is not another loud social network.
It is a simpler way to coordinate trips, discover overlap, and make skiing and snowboarding feel a little more connected. Because some of the best parts of mountain culture happen off the mountain too.
